Life in the Live Musical Capital of the World

The best thing about online business is you can you can live anywhere! I am fortunate enough to currently be living in Austin Texas where we don’t have snow and cold, and are but a short trip from the beach.

Growing up in a northern state and living in Indiana and Ohio for a greater part of my life; it is a good feeling to be where it is warmer. A good friend of mine recently made a statement which I really like, and I’ve adopted it as well… “The nice thing about living in the south is that you don’t have to shovel the heat.” Having shoveled a lot of snow in my life, I can certainly say “Amen” to that!

Living in Austin definitely has its many other advantages. We are the live music capital of the world, which many do not know. While Austin’s music heritage traces back to frontier days, it was not until 1991 that blues musician Lillian Standfield, returning from a gig in Houston, saw a city limits sign and thought the City needed a slogan to promote music. She approached the City’s Music Commission with the idea of Austin becoming the “Music Capital of the USA.” City staff research found that Austin had more live music venues per capita than such music hotbeds as Nashville, Memphis, Los Angeles, Las Vegas or New York City.

A Council Member’s suggestion that Austin should be the “Live Music Capital of the Universe” resulted in a classic political compromise and the “Live Music Capital of the World” became the City’s official slogan by Council Resolution on Aug. 29, 1991.

And of course, we can’t forget 6th Street, which is famous for its night life and many eating establishments! My favorite thing is to sit on the patio in the middle of December at one of the establishments on 6th Street, sipping on a martini, and text some of my best friends, letting them know that I’m sitting outside, while they’re inside looking out at the blowing snow and cold!! I know, that doesn’t sound like a good friend, but what can I say??!!

As a real estate investor, father, and business owner, I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, and have successfully started and sold several businesses over the years. I have even started some businesses that have failed; so, I know both ends of the spectrum!I have tried several different MLM companies, and was able to build a good organization with them, but it seemed that the leaders always left for some other ‘newest and latest’ business opportunity. In one case, our up line even kept the money that was supposed to pass on down to
us!!

Even while having a brick and mortar business, I was always looking for ways to build a business online; something that would give me a residual income. I have tried several affiliate programs that promised me thousands of dollars if I would just promote their product. Little did I know that the thousands of dollars would be coming from my pocket…instead of how I had envisioned it – going into my pocket!!

I am the kind of guy you really do want to get to know and learn from!  
